Arete is currently in the development stage, in its current stage, it is not a complete product and should not be used as such, it should only be used by interested developers.
Arete is an open-source project with the aim of bridging the gap between QA for enterprise software engineering projects and open source projects, where proper QA is typically given the least attention.
Good tools make QA more effective, but there is a world of difference between commerical tools such as HP Quality Center, Serena TeamTrack and open-source equivalents, such as Litmus, Bugzilla and Trac. Arete aims to consolidate the various areas of QA and project management into one product, but with the ability to be able to hook into other products (such as SVN, APIs for automated testing frameworks, etc).
